A stage director has been sentenced to two months in prison and a Dh50,000 fine for plagiarism after putting on a play without its author's permission.
When the Arab playwright learnt his plays was being performed at Khor Fakkan theatre, he filed a complaint with the Ministry of Economy.
The director was found guilty of copyright infringement for using and directing a play without the author's permission.
The Court of First Instance in Khor Fakkan sentenced him in absentia after he failed to appear before public prosecution or attend the trial.
