DUBAI // Two men who broke their roommate's nose in a fight over cleaning their villa, have been sentenced to three months in prison and fined Dh2,000.
MA, 33, from Pakistan, was sleeping at the villa in Hor Al Anz on December 9 last year when one of his roommates woke him and demanded he clean the room.
"He used very, very bad language to insult my mother and sister," said the man, who demanded an end to the insults, but was then beaten by both NK 27, from Pakistan, and his other roommate EA, 28, also from Pakistan. "What I don't understand is why they assaulted me. When they asked me to clean the room, I did so," added the man.
One of the roommates said they were provoked. "He [MA] is very stubborn and he has an ego and an attitude, he thinks he is better than us since he works in a better place, and says we don't have the right to ask him to clean the place because he is better than us," said the roommate.
MA is a restaurant driver, his roommates are a painter and a porter. The other roommate claimed he was merely trying to break up the fight between the other two men.
At the Misdemeanours Court both roommates denied charges of assault, but were found guilty.
