Three men denied kidnapping a business owner then stripping him naked and assaulting him but they admitted stealing his money and phone, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.
The trio, aged between 27 and 30, allegedly kidnapped the 41-year-old Indian after they convinced him they were interested in buying 10 laptops from his shop.
"One of them called me and said he wanted to negotiate the price and asked if we could meet at his hotel room. I'm used to meeting customers, so, on February 22 this year, I went to the hotel," said the Indian.
As he arrived, he said he was pushed inside by the Nigerian trio and his mobile phones were taken away. The man was allegedly dragged into the bathroom, slapped and punched before he was stripped naked.

“They took my wallet, which had Dh9,700 in it as well as my ATM cards and credit cards. One of them snatched a ring off my finger and another pulled my Dh3,000 necklace,” he said, adding that he was threatened with death if he did not tell them his PIN numbers.

When he relented, the man says he was locked in the toilet while two of the men went out and withdrew Dh1,700 from his account.
"I was then given a towel to wrap around my waist, and allowed to get out of the bathroom. I saw the third man busy eating so I stormed towards the door and rushed to the reception, where I told them everything," the Indian said.
Police arrived and found the man's clothes in the hotel room but the defendants had vanished. They were arrested a few days later after the hotel provided police with copies of their passports.
They denied charges of kidnap and sex assault but admitted a theft charge.
The next hearing will be on November 5.
