Three men have been arrested by Dubai Police for allegedly trying to smuggle and sell 25.5 kilograms of cannabis seeds and 1.5kg of crystal meth.

Police said on Sunday that three suspects from Asian countries were arrested during two separate drug busts in Dubai.

“Police officials at the anti-narcotics department foiled attempts to smuggle drugs in one of the malls in Dubai and another near Dubai Marina,” said Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, assistant to the Dubai Police chief.

Maj Gen Al Mansouri said that the seizures took place on August 23.

Police said the first suspect was a 50-year-old ship owner, the second a 32-year-old sailor and the third also a sailor, aged 39.

“A policeman posed as a buyer to the 50-year-old suspect and was given the amount of money they agreed on. The other two suspects were bringing a plastic bag containing drugs from a boat. A few seconds later, the three suspects were caught red handed,” said Maj Gen Al Mansouri.

The three suspects have been referred to prosecutors to face charges.
