A three-strong gang has been arrested for stealing Dh180,000 worth of smartphones from a shop in Ajman, a police official said on Tuesday.
Major Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police, said a phone shop owner called in after finding the door to his premises forced open and a large number of devices missing.
Crime scene experts managed to find evidence that helped identify the suspects, he added.

One of them was arrested when he returned to the shop while police were still there, though it was not clear why he did so.
"We found some tools in his possession, which he admitted that he and his two accomplices used to break into the shop," said the major.
The man tipped off police about the location of the other two, who were then apprehended, he added.
Police also managed to retrieve the phones.
