DUBAI // Two men and a woman were sentenced this morning to five years in prison each for human trafficking charges.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance said they smuggled runaway maids from Oman to the UAE to work as prostitutes in Dubai.

MM, 29 a cook; the woman ZA, 26; and AA, 27, a clerk, all from Bangladesh, denied the charges when they appeared before court in August last year.

AA was also separately charged with illegally confining a woman with the intent to use her in prostitution.

All three were also been accused of attempting to sell a 27-year-old woman; that charge is being heard separately.

They will be deported after serving their prison terms.
