Threats to kill land man in jail
DUBAI // A man who threatened to kill his compatriot was today sentenced to six months in prison.
GS, a 21-year-old unemployed Indian, assaulted and tore the shirt of MS, a 36-year-old labourer, before threatening to kill him if he reported him to police. Court records did not explain what offence the unemployed man did not want reported.
The labourer said that on December 14 he was walking with his friend to a supermarket in Al Quoz Industrial Area to buy groceries when he was attacked by two men from behind.
They kicked him all over his body and when his friend tried to intervene the unemployed man said: "I will kill you if you inform the police."
The attacker tried to escape but a number of men caught him and called the police. A number of witnesses testified that they heard the threats.
GS will be deported following the completion of his prison term.
