DUBAI //A 14-year-old boy was raped at knifepoint on his way home from afternoon prayers at a mosque in Al Rashidiya, a court has heard.

The Pakistani boy was approached by Bangladeshi H?M, 37, about 4pm on February 25 and asked if he would like to see some toys in a nearby room, Dubai Criminal Court heard today.

"He asked me to accompany him to his room to see the toys but I told him I didn't want to see them," the boy said, according to police.

The boy walked on but the defendant followed him, grabbed his arm and forced him into a room, he said.

The defendant locked the door and waved a kitchen knife at his victim, threatening to kill him if he did not take off his clothes.

Out of fear, the boy said he gave in and was raped twice in 30 minutes.

He said that when the defendant went to the bathroom to wash, he unlocked the door and ran to his home.

There he told his parents who called the police.

Forensics reports showed traces of the defendant's DNA were found on the boy's body.

He faces charges of kidnapping and raping a minor but did not issue a plea today because he did not have a lawyer.

The next hearing is scheduled for  July 2 when one will be appointed for him.
