DUBAI // A tailor waited until a female customer was undressing in the changing room before barging in and molesting her, a court heard today.

The Filipina customer, 25, told prosecutors that she went to the company's tailor to get a new uniform at about 5pm on June 16. The tailor YK, a 37-year-old Indian, gave her a skirt to try on, but when she entered the changing room and removed her trousers the tailor barged in.

"I got angry and told him to get out," she said. The tailor then left, but he returned with a second skirt for her to try on.

As he was handing her the second skirt, he suddenly reached out and groped her, she said.

She screamed at him and he apologised before leaving the changing room. She reported him to the police the next day.

A female tailor, the 30-year-old Indian SH, testified that she saw the customer leaving the shop and heard her saying that the skirts did not fit.

"The next day I met her and she told me she had been molested," said the female tailor.

The male tailor was charged at the Criminal Court with sexual assault. He denied the charge and a verdict was scheduled for October 21.
