Student 'recorded rape of boy on mobile phone'

A student recorded himself raping a 16-year-old boy using a mobile phone, hears court.

DUBAI // A student used his mobile phone to record himself raping a 16-year-old boy, a court heard today.

The boy, an Emirati referred to as Z?A, told prosecutors that he had been playing football at a pitch in Nad Shamma on October 21, 2011, when his compatriot A?M, a 20-year-old student, arrived in a car driven by a mutual friend.

He said it was about 10pm when the two arrived and offered him a lift to the student's house. When he arrived, he said the student grabbed him by the neck and forced him to swallow a tablet.

Two hours later, when the tablet had kicked in, the student took the boy to his bedroom and threatened him with a knife before twisting his arm and throwing him to the floor.

The student locked the door, took the boy's mobile phone and raped him. Afterwards he forced him to wash. The student allegedly recorded the attack using a mobile phone that was fixed to the top of a table, and said he would use the video to scandalise the boy if he told anyone what happened.

When the boy arrived home at 3am his father did not allow him back because it was so late. The boy was forced to spend the night at a friend's house.

When he returned on the afternoon of the next day his parents demanded to know what he had been doing and he told his mother he had been attacked. She informed his father, who took the boy to Al Rashidiya police station and lodged a complaint.

The student denied a charge of rape at the Dubai Criminal Court.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 22.
