DUBAI // Four men were convicted this morning of attacking a security guard, locking him up and stealing 50 tonnes of steel from a construction site.
JM, 37; AA, 25; and GH and MA, both 25, were sentenced to six months in prison each, followed by deportation.
Two other men, AK, from India, and KA, from Pakistan, were charged with possessing stolen items. AK was acquitted, while KA will spend three months in prison followed by deportation.
Prosecutors said the men went to a construction site at 11.30pm on December 24, 2010, and attacked the guard JR, 34, Indian.
They took his phone, tied him up, locked him in a room and stole the steel. JR was found the next morning by a colleague.
