DUBAI // An unemployed man who sexually assaulted a boy after threatening him with a sword will spend three years in prison, a court ruled today.
BH, 23, had denied the charges when he first appeared before the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance last month. A second male faces rape charges in Juvenile Court, and BH faces a separate charge of drinking alcohol, which is being heard in the Court of Misdemeanours.
BH told the court that he was being framed, although he did not specify by whom: "They sent me a number of men who beat me up, your honour," he told Judge Fahmy Mounir Fahmy.
He said those who beat him ripped off his clothes and took pictures to use for blackmail. He said that he had a medical report proving he was assaulted, the court heard.
Although he is listed as "stateless" in court documents, BH will be deported after serving his prison term.
