Saleswoman denies offering Dubai police officer bribe, court told
DUBAI // A saleswoman caught without any identification papers tried to bribe a police officer with Dh2,000, a court heard today.
The policeman told the Criminal Court that BJ, 44, from China appeared "scared and nervous" when he stopped her at the Deira City Centre Metro station on November 2.
He asked for her identity papers and when she could not provide them he asked her to accompany him to the security office at the Deira City Centre mall.
"She agreed and we went inside the lift but as soon as we left the lift she put some money in my hand and asked me to let her go," he said.
The woman reportedly told officers that when she lived in China she would often bribe policemen.
In court she denied a charge of offering a bribe.
The next hearing is expected on December 19.
