DUBAI // A man who hid a camera in the shower of his two female flatmates was today sentenced to three months in prison.
MF, a 40-year-old Filipino, claimed he hid the camera to monitor their water consumption, but the Criminal Court did not believe him and found him guilty of sexual assault. It also ordered him to be deported following his jail term.
One of his flatmates noticed a circular disc in the ceiling of the bathroom shortly after finishing showering and then called her female roomate to help her investigate. They found a camera inside the disc and checked its memory card, on which were recordings of both of them showering. Another clip showed their male flatmate fixing the camera.
They confronted the housemate and told him and his wife to pack their bags and leave, then reported the matter to police. Officers found the man had some recordings of the women showering that dated back to 2008.
The court ordered the camera to be confiscated.
