Policeman 'sexually assaulted bank woman offering him credit card in back of car'

Filipina says Yemeni officer was driving them to the bank to conclude credit card agreement when he took a detour and locked them in his car

A Dubai policeman is accused of attempting to rape a bank employee when she met with him to offer banking services.

The 26-year-old Filipina said that on May 8 she called the defendant to offer him a credit card.

“He told me he would like to take our credit card offer and would meet with me at a coffee shop in Al Ghurair at 2pm. We met and agreed then he said he wanted to finish the procedures at the bank to make sure than I worked there and I wasn't scamming him,” she said, adding that he ordered her to take the back seat in his car en-route to the branch in Al Muraqqabat.

She said he missed the bank and started to take a detour and, when she informed him, he didn't care and continued driving.

“He parked his car and locked the doors and windows then started asking me personal questions. I told him it was not appropriate but he wasn't listening and was busy installing the shades before he jumped in the back seat,” said the woman.

The policeman allegedly stripped her naked and told her he would take the bank offer if she had sex with him.

“He tried to convince me, saying he was a well-connected man and can help me in my life. I still refused then he said that whether I said yes or no, he would still have his way with me,” the Filipina said.

The defendant allegedly tried to rape her but, when he failed, he is said to have assaulted her sexually and forced her to pleasure him.

When he was done, she said he asked her to get dressed and fix herself up in a petrol station toilet.

“I locked myself inside and called my manager and told him everything. I also called my colleague and sent him my location to come pick me up,” said the woman, who then headed to a police station to report the incident.

The woman’s colleague told prosecutors that she called him at about 4pm, crying and screaming.

“She was terrified when I picked her up. She was crying and in shock as she told me that she was raped. I immediately took her to the police station,” testified the Egyptian man, 29.

A police officer said that the defendant denied any wrongdoing when he was questioned and said that it all happened with the woman’s consent.

At Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday morning, the Yemeni defendant, 28, denied an attempted rape charge.

The next hearing will be on October 29.
