Police find 5kg of heroin after storming house in Sharjah
DUBAI // Dubai anti-narcotics officers stormed a house in an industrial area of Sharjah, arresting four men and two women allegedly in possession of almost 5kg of heroin. They launched the raid after receiving a tip that a man was peddling heroin in the Naif district. After being arrested, he confessed that he had obtained the drugs from a person in Sharjah, police said yesterday. Dubai Police, in co-ordination with Sharjah authorities, eventually located the suspect's house in the industrial area and stormed it.
Inside, they caught the other six suspects, who were allegedly in possession of about 4.62kg of heroin. Police said the women had ingested some of the drugs in an apparent attempt to either hide or smuggle it. Police did not identify the suspects nor say when the initial arrest or the raid took place. They also did not estimate the drugs' street value. All five men have been charged with possession with intent to sell narcotics. Two were also charged with smuggling the drugs into the country, while one was also charged with drug consumption. The women were charged only with possession of narcotics.
