Pilot who locked woman in his Dubai apartment jailed one year
DUBAI // A pilot who locked a woman in his Mirdiff apartment against her will has been sentenced to a year in prison.
The American SA, 28, who will be deported following the completion of his jail term, locked his friend, a 23-year-old from Bahrain, in the apartment on October 4 this year.
The woman was visiting him to collect a receipt she needed to claim her seized passport from Al Rashidiya police station. The passport was taken because she had been involved in a recent traffic accident.
He let her into the apartment, but as she looked for the receipt he took her car keys and mobile phone and left the apartment, locking the door behind him.
The woman said that he did this because she had raised her voice at him previously. She was rescued by police after screaming for help from the pilot's window.
The pilot was arrested in Abu Dhabi driving the woman's car.
