A British woman spat on a police officer’s face after he asked her to stop playing loud music in a residential community in Dubai.
The residents of a building in Palm Jumeirah, where the woman lived, complained about loud music coming from her apartment around 3am on June 12.
“It was nearly 3.30am when my colleague and I arrived at the building and spoke to the security guard,” said the Emirati officer, 27.
The building’s security guard had already asked the woman to turn down the music before reporting to the police.
“I went to them three times before calling the police,” the guard said.
Both officers went to the apartment on the fourth floor to request them to stop the music.
“The woman opened the door and insulted me using foul language the moment she saw me. She then spat on my face,” said the police officer.
The woman’s Iraqi friend also insulted and threatened the officers on duty.
“He screamed at me accusing me of entering the apartment when I was still outside the door, then told me he would get me fired,” said the officer.
The woman then called the police operation room falsely accusing the officer of trespassing.
“My colleague had said or done nothing that could have provoked any of the defendants,” said the second officer.
Both residents have been charged with assaulting a police officer on duty.
They have denied the charges and the next hearing is on September 22.
