Supreme Court in Muscat orders new panel to hear the case after appeals from both sides.
Omani men to be retried in Emirati's killing
The Omani Supreme Court in Muscat has overturned life sentences for two Omani men convicted of killing a 20-year-old Emirati in Al Buraimi.
Both the defence and prosecution had appealed the lower court's verdict. The Omani men, ages 58 and 35, are accused of murdering Hadi Al Ahbabi in the Omani territory of Al Buraimi, near the UAE border.
The prosecutors' appeal said the men should be tried on the charge of premeditated murder with the intention of stealing, while defence lawyers said there was a lack of evidence and a prejudice against the rights of the defence in the original verdict.
The case will be sent to a lower court to weigh with a new panel of judges.
