Mother used couple's passports to register illegitimate baby
DUBAI // A human resources employee used the passports of a married couple at her company to register her illegitimate newborn child, the Dubai Criminal Court heard today.
Prosecutors said that CC, an unmarried 27-year-old Filipina, gave birth to a baby girl from an illicit relationship and then presented passport copies of her Filipino coworkers to the Bal Houl hospital to obtain a birth notification document. She then took the notification and passport copies to the Ministry of Health to obtain a birth certificate.
PR, a 31-year-old Filipina, testified that in August 2011 the mother asked her to hand over her original passport - and that of her husband ET - so they could be checked by the Free Zone Authority. "Our company is under the Free Zone Authority so we gave her the passports," said PR.
The mother was arrested in March 2012 for an unspecified reason and police discovered that her child was registered under the couple's name. The couple were then informed.
Prosecutors said that CC confessed to having sex with a compatriot identified as MP who has not been arrested. They said she also confessed to using passport copies that were not hers and forging the birth notification document.
She was charged with both consenusal sex outside of wedlock and forging official documents.
She was not present in court to enter her plea.
The next hearing was scheduled for July 26 to summon the mother.
