Moroccan woman accused of blackmail over sex video

The defendant allegedly demanded Dh1.9 million from her victim

A Moroccan woman has been accused of blackmailing a well-known Bahraini media figure by threatening to post a video of them having sex on the internet.

Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court that the defendant, 22, met the man on a networking app and agreed to meet in Bahrain in October last year.

Days after the pair met and had sex, the woman began sending the victim threatening messages on WhatsApp.

She claimed to have a video of them naked and demanded Dh1.9 million or she would post the footage online.

“On October 6 last year she sent me a message saying she was in Bahrain,” the 39-year-old man told the court.

“I went to her place, she was alone and we had sex. Then I left. But three days later she sent me a picture of me naked. She also claimed she had a video of us having sex.

“She took advantage of my position being a well-known figure in the media industry."

Appearing in court on Tuesday, the defendant denied blackmailing the star. The hearing was adjourned until January 26.
