DUBAI // A policewoman who was reported missing by her brother was found 45 days later allegedly living in a hotel with her lover.
The policewoman's brother, BM, opened a missing person's file on June 28, saying that his sister had left the house the previous night and had not returned.
He claimed that AM, 31, who holds a Comoros Islands passport and who works at Dubai International Airport, got into her black Infinity 4x4 and left her family's house in Oud Matina at about 3pm the previous day.
He told investigating officers there were no family problems he was aware of that would have forced his sister to run away.
On August 13, officers from the missing persons department tracked the woman to Belfort Hotel Apartments in Ajman, where she had been living with her alleged lover since checking in on July 14. Court records did not make clear where she had spent the rest of the time.
Her alleged lover, DH, 21, told police they had known each other for a year. "She told me she wanted to leave her family's house because she was being beaten," he said.
He said the two met in Al Barsha before heading to Ajman in his car. The woman left her car in Dubai.
Police investigators said he confessed to having sex with the woman, a divorcee, and that she also confessed to having sex. She allegedly told officers that the first time they made love was in his car in Dubai.
They both denied a charge of sex outside wedlock at the Misdemeanours Court.
The case was adjourned to November 8.
