ABU DHABI // A Syrian man accused of breaking into a parked car and stealing a wallet containing cash, personal identity cards and credit cards appeared before the criminal court today.

After breaking into the car on December 27 last year, the man, whose age was not given in court reports, went to the Emirates Plaza Hotel where he used one of the credit cards to buy a Red Bull energy drink and cigarettes.

He signed the Dh55 bill receipt and then went to an ATM and withdrew Dh1,800 using the same card.

The defendant was later arrested at his house where officers also found the stolen wallet and credit card.

The case was adjourned to March 18.
