A man who trespassed into a mosque attendant's home and molested his sleeping wife will spend six months in jail.
Dubai Criminal Court was told that on December 12, the mosque attendant returned home after calling for Fajr prayers to find his wife in tears.
"When he asked her why, she told him that a man of his acquaintance had touched her," said a policeman who was called to the scene.
The woman, whose age and nationality were not disclosed in records, said she was sleeping when she felt someone kissing her forehead.
"I thought it was my husband but when I heard my husband calling for prayer from the mosque I knew it wasn't him and opened my eyes to see the defendant," said the woman.
She said the man ran when she screamed and she told her husband what happened upon his return home.
"I returned to the mosque and confronted him and he admitted to me then asked for my forgiveness," said the husband.
The husband then called police who arrested the man, a 36-year-old Pakistani.

In court in January, he denied a charge of sexual assault saying that the woman is his sister but failed to present any documents to back his claim.
On Monday, he was sentenced to six months in prison to be followed by deportation.
