DUBAI // A man who tried to steal Tramadol from a pharmacy was caught because employees managed to grab his ghotra (head cover) as he ran away, the criminal court heard today.

YM, 22, entered the GMC pharmacy in Muraqqabat on December 27 last year and presented a prescription for cough syrup. However, as the pharmacist was preparing the order, he became suspicious as the prescription claimed the man was 48 years old.

The man then grabbed a number of the Tramadol boxes and ran away, with a number of employees giving chase. The man dropped all but one of the boxes in the ensuing chase, and was nearly caught when the employees grabbed his ghotra. DNA traces from the head cover matched those of the man.

A verdict is expected on September 10.
