Man 'tipped off police before attempting drug-fuelled threesome'

A man threatened to slaughter his wife and her friend if they refused to take part in a threesome.

ABU DHABI // A man who threatened to slaughter his wife and her friend if they refused to take part in a drug-fuelled threesome was caught because he tipped off the police beforehand, a court heard today.

A police officer told the Abu Dhabi Appeals Court yesterday that the man phoned him two days before the incident to inform him that the women often took drugs at his house and asked for their arrest. In a later phone call, said the officer, the Emirati man told him the specific time the women would be at the house.

The man's wife said she was having dinner with her friend at a restaurant during Eid Al Adha when her husband called and asked them both to return home. When they did so, he threatened to slaughter them with a sharp object if they did not consume the drugs with him. They complied, but when he demanded a threesome, the wife's friend ran upstairs and locked herself in one of the rooms. When the man broke down the door she jumped from the second-floor balcony and sustained a number of injuries in her fall.

Police then arrived and arrested all three of them.

The Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted the two women and sentenced the man to nine years in jail - which he is now appealing.

He rejected a urine sample which showed traces of hashish in his system and said that he could not consume drugs as he had previously had heart surgery. He said it was also not credible that he threatened to slaughter the two women, pointing out that he did not try to leave when the police arrived. The sharp object he was accused of using to threaten the women was never found, he added.

The case was adjourned to April 29 for a verdict.
