Man threatens to kill woman and her family if she marries another, Dubai court hears
A man threatened to kill a woman’s family members one by one if she married someone else, Dubai Criminal Court was told on Sunday.
Prosecutors said that on September 7, the Indian defendant sent a WhatsApp message to the woman saying: “If you get married, or engaged to any other man, the start will be with your mom who will be the first victim, her life is your responsibility, then I will kill the rest of your family one by one and I will leave you to the end, you will be the last to die.”
The woman, a 30-year-old human resources assistant manager, said she met the defendant on LinkedIn when she was looking for another job and the 35-year-old manager promised to help her.
She told the court that he began sending her strange messages on WhatsApp after she sent him her CV.
“I blocked his number so he used different numbers including international ones, and he then started stalking me wherever I went, even to my work. I freaked out and he told me that the worst is yet to come,” said the Indian woman.
She said he also called and sent her emails in which he told her he loved her and wanted to marry her but when she rejected him, he allegedly sent her the threatening texts.
The woman reported him to police, who said that the man admitted to sending threatening messages.
Prosecutors attached copies of all the messages he sent the woman on WhatsApp and via email.
The man denied charges of issuing death threats and issuing insults.
The next hearing will be held on November 14.
