DUBAI // A burglar who attacked two men with a knife has been sentenced to a year in prison by the Criminal Court.

AK, an unemployed 21-year-old Emirati, and HE, his 46-year-old compatriot, posed as police officers to gain entry to the home of the two men in Al Satwa at about 2.30am on December 24, 2009.

They ordered the two men and three of their roommates to present their ID cards and hand over their wallets.

AK then took out a knife he was hiding in his trousers and attacked the two Bangladeshi salesmen AA, 32, and SM, 49.

He slashed one of them, causing him a 14cm wound, and broke the arm of the other one, who later required metal bars to be inserted to help the bone heal. A medical report described the two injuries as constituting a 5 per cent disability and a 20 per cent disability.

The two bogus policemen then stole Dh260 from one of the roomates.
