A man killed his girlfriend before walking into a police station to confess his crime.
The Indian defendant, 27, stabbed his partner several times and slit her throat after she mocked his marriage proposal, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
He then entered Al Muraqqabat Police Station, still wearing blood-stained clothes, and told an officer: "Sir, I killed my girlfriend".
He admitted to police he had murdered the victim while she was sat in the passenger seat of his car.
He said her body was still in his car, which was parked outside the police station.
The incident occurred in July of last year.
The officer inspected the vehicle, finding the victim inside.
During further police questioning, the defendant said he had discovered his girlfriend of a year had been cheating on him.
“He told me she had been involved with several other men therefore he asked to meet with her to talk it out,” said the police captain.
“He handed me a number of messages he had sent the woman’s family shortly before meeting with her in which he threatened to kill her.”
The man admitted a premeditated murder charge when he appeared before the court.
The case was adjourned until March 24.
