Man found with 60 fake immigration stamps, Dubai court told

Man is accused of trying to smuggle into the country 60 fake iris scan stamps.

DUBAI // A man was found with 60 fake immigration stamps, a court heard today.

The Criminal Court heard that two Uzbeks were arrested in February last year while trying to use the stamps and when arrested led police to RK, 30, from Uzbekistan.

Officers found forgery paraphernalia and some passports in his apartment. They were then led to another man's apartment, where they found more fake stamps. Ten of the stamps were designed to look as if they were issued by Abu Dhabi Airport, the other 50 appeared to have been issued by Sharjah International Airport.

RK denied importing the stamps to the UAE, but admitted using them, while six of his compatriots - five men and one woman, all aged 26-25 - denied using them.

The next hearing was scheduled for June 2.
