A Pakistani man on trial for stealing a gas cylinder that worth Dh350 from a construction site, Dubai Court of First Instance was told on Thursday.
The Pakistani labourer, 21, is accused of theft and then selling the gas cylinder for Dh100.
He told prosecutors that he committed the theft because he needed the money, according to court documents.
A 36-year-old Egyptian supervisor at a construction company, told prosecutors: “The defendant works as a construction worker during the daytime and as a security guard in the evening.
"A gas cylinder was missing and it turned out that the defendant sold it to a nearby store dealing with gas cylinders on October 14, 2017.”
The defendant sold the gas cylinder for Dh100, according to court documents. He appeared before court and confessed to his crime.
The hearing was adjourned until November 27.
