Two housemaids stole Dh3,040 worth of valuables from their sponsor, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Thursday.
The two defendants, from Indonesia, are charged with stealing a Samsung Galaxy worth Dh1,750, another Samsung mobile phone worth Dh500, accessories worth Dh700 and clothes worth Dh90, according to court documents.
The Emirati sponsor, 44, reported the incident in October.
“My wife told one of the maids to park a vehicle at my mother’s house. She went to pick up children from school. When she came back, she didn’t find the maids and some of our belongings," he said.
Prosecutors said the two defendants confessed to charges during questioning.
The next hearing was adjourned until late this month.
