DUBAI // A man who reported his girlfriend to police after finding out she was not a virgin landed himself in court charged with kissing outside marriage.
AT, a 24-year-old Indian, met Pakistani JM, also 24, on Facebook two years ago and they became intimate, the Misdemeanours Court heard yesterday.
But the Indian, a customer service assistant at the Roads and Transport Authority, stopped seeing her after finding out she was not a virgin when they met.
The woman told her family he broke up with her after they had sex and a dispute between the two families occurred. The man contacted police, claiming she kept "disturbing" his family.
"We often kissed and cuddled but I never had sex with her," he told officers, according to court records. "I even told her I would marry her, but when she offered herself to me and said she was not a virgin, I broke up with her."
His admission led to both being charged with having intimate relations, including kissing outside of marriage. They confessed in court.
The woman told police she slept with him because he promised to marry her. "When I insisted he meet my family and propose he started to stall and then broke up with me," she said.
She claimed they had sex more than 20 times and described marks on the man's body.
The next hearing was scheduled for November 12.
