DUBAI // Three men who kidnapped and robbed a labourer after posing as policemen have been sentenced to three years in prison.

MB, 38, ME, 34 and GY, 22, all from Pakistan, drove up alongside the Bangladeshi FK, 31, who was walking in Al Quoz on the evening of December 6 last year.

Two of them stepped out of the Toyota Corolla while a third remained in the driver's seat. They told him they were policemen and asked him to get in the car, but he refused. He asked them for identification but they refused, instead forcing him into the car and beating him on the back seat.

They then drove him to a remote area and stole Dh2,000 and two Nokia mobile phones from him.

Police arrested one of the men a few days after the incident. He confessed and led officers to the other two men.

They denied the charges at the Criminal Court but were found guilty. All three will be deported after completing their prison terms.
