DUBAI // A man who bought a prescription book from a hospital employee for Dh2,000 then used it to forge 25 Tramadol prescriptions has been sentenced to six months in prison.

MM, 25, an Emirati, visited a hospital in Ras Al Khaimah repeatedly, pretending to be suffering from anaemia in an attempt to get the prescriptions but was turned down because doctors ruled he was not suffering from any condition. He then bought the book from a member of staff.

He then used it in various pharmacies across Dubai to purchase Tramadol and other drugs. He was arrested after one such pharmacy became suspicious and reported him to police.

Prosecutors said the medicines were often spelt incorrectly.
