DUBAI // A 31-year-old man was accused of sexually assaulting a housewife in the home they shared last year, a Dubai court heard this morning.

The suspect LN, Bangladeshi, was charged by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance with sexually assaulting a 28-year-old woman at her house while her husband was away. He is also charged with threatening the victim with harm if she told police and trespassing.

He denied all charges.

According to the housewife's testimony in court records, the suspect had been calling her for a while before the incident. She said he repeatedly told her he loved her.

She told prosecutors she, her husband and their children shared a house in Al Rashidiya area with the suspect and his wife.

According to records, the children left for school and the husband left for work about 7.30am. LN allegedly entered the victim’s room while she was in the bathroom.

She said he grabbed her hand, pushed her onto a sofa and tried to rape her. She told prosecutors she resisted him, ran to the bathroom and locked herself inside for about three hours.

The next hearing was scheduled for March 20.
