DUBAI // A maid stole items worth more than Dh100,000 from her employer, including a watch worth Dh52,000, a court heard yesterday.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard that KA, a 31-year-old Sri Lankan, stole the items during 2011 from her Emirati employer's home in Al Mazhar 1.

FA, 41, said he lived in the house with his parents, brothers and sisters and his wife and children.

He said they started noticing cash and other items disappearing and later found money transfer receipts in the maid's room which made them suspicious she was stealing from them. "She transferred Dh25,000 to her family inn three months," he told the court.

The maid denied a theft charge. A verdict was scheduled for next month.
