Government employee faces credit card fraud charge

Government employee changed the name on a copy of another's man's passport to his own and used it to obtain a credit card, court told.

DUBAI // A government employee changed the name on a copy of another man's passport to his own and used it to obtain a credit card, a court was told yesterday.

AS, a 27-year-old Emirati, was charged at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance with forging a copy of a UAE passport, submitting false information on a credit card application, presenting false documents to a bank and fraudulently acquiring a credit card from a consumer finance company.

Prosecutors say he confessed to changing the name on a passport copy belonging to KI, a 24-year-old Emirati trainee, in September last year.

AS failed to appear yesterday and the case was adjourned until February 27 so that prosecutors could bring him to court.
