DUBAI // A garage owner was stabbed to death with such force that the knives broke in his back, a court heard yesterday.
Afghans BS and TR, both 21, and AA, 22, planned to rob the man, prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court.
The victim was attacked on November 6 last year by three men armed with two knives.
He managed to take one of the knives and stabbed the assailant in the chest before being overpowered.
Shortly after midnight, police stopped the victim's 4x4 Lexus in International City. BS was driving and police noticed blood on his shirt and discovered he had been stabbed in the chest.
"He then confessed that he killed the car's owner because he said he tried to rape him," said a policeman, YQ.
Prosecutors said the men also stole three mobile phones from the victim.
AK, a 49-year-old supervisor who knew the victim, said BS had worked for the garage owner but was let go after five days.
"He told me that BS often sought financial help from him and he repeatedly helped him," he said. "When he returned to the UAE from Afghanistan he kept calling asking that he hire him."
The supervisor added that BS's rape claim was baseless.
All three deny premeditated murder associated with robbery. The next hearing is scheduled for July 17.
