Five-year sentence for raping boy

Two Emirati men took the 17-year-old student to a house and assaulted him, prosecutors say.

DUBAI // A police corporal and a broadcast technician charged with raping a teenage boy were found guilty this morning and sentenced to five years in prison each.

Defence lawyers had argued the Emiratis FA, 25, and RS, 25, were innocent because forensic experts said there was no physical evidence showing the boy had been raped.

FA, a broadcast technician and the police corporal RS also were charged with sexual assault, homosexual rape, kidnapping, physical assault and making threats.

The 17-year-old Iraqi victim met the defendants at the Royal House billiards club in Dubai on January 26, 2010, and FA promised him a gift and dinner to celebrate the end of his school exams.

FA then spoke with RS and took the victim to RS’ home, where they told the boy they were going to pick up a car part.

The boy was then taken into a room where the men physically assaulted him.

“I was not able to sleep that night and I told my mother what happened,” the boy told prosecutors. A police case was filed at 3am with Al Qusais police.
