DUBAI // A 21-year-old man was sentenced this morning to four months in prison for impersonating a police officer to commit a robbery.

Judge Hamad Abdullatif at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance convicted DA, from Pakistan, of posing as a police officer to NS in December 2009.

NS testified that his friend sent DA to sleep at his place for a day and told him DA was an officer with the Criminal Investigations Department at the Dubai police's Naif station.

NS said DA arrived on December 5, 2010, and left the next day. But when NS left for work, he said, he discovered he was missing Dh600 and two credit cards.

NS told his friend and both men reported the incident to police.

The defendant was arrested a few days later and was found with both credit cards and Dh110.

He will be deported after serving his prison term.
