DUBAI // A man posed as a police officer to kidnap and rape a woman, a Dubai court heard this morning.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance was told that the 28-year-old unemployed Emirati KJ, stopped the 26-year-old Filipina at a bus stop in Jumeirah in November 2010. He did not attend today's hearing.

He lowered the window of his Mitsubishi, claimed to be a Criminal Investigations officer and requested the woman's ID. When she said she did not have her card, he forced her into the car and claimed to be heading to a police station.

The woman said that she begged him to take her to the hotel where she worked as a cleaner to grab her ID but he insisted on taking her to the station.

While they were in the car, records say, KJ parked in an empty area in Jumeirah, then forced the woman to lower her seat. He then raped her before taking her back to the bus station.

She told prosecutors he took her mobile phone and stole Dh100 from her when he searched her bag.

"He took my number and said that he will call me if he needed to have sex with me again," she said.

She said she went to a friend's house, changed her clothes and went to work. After her shift, she reported the incident to police.

KJ denied the allegations to police, saying she was his girlfriend and that the sex was consensual.

KJ said she asked him for a large sum of money after they had sex, but he gave her only Dh200 as it was all he had on him at the time.

The next hearing will be on September 14.
