DUBAI // A former sales manager at a company in Dubai filed a lawsuit against his company after being accused of theft and fired, a criminal court heard today.

The 52-year-old Indian suspect DR was accused of seeking higher commissions from companies abroad, which he used to import goods for his employer, prosecutors said, adding that he also gave fake prices to his employer, then took the difference for his own gain.

He denied the charges this morning.

Records said DR took Dh126,000 and deposited it in a bank account in India. When he was confronted by his superiors at the company, he denied taking anything, prosecutors said.

He then filed a labour lawsuit against his employer, claiming he was fired without justification and without notice, records noted.

The next hearing is on February 22.
