An actress found guilty of assaulting a couple after a row at a five-star Dubai hotel has had her fine halved on appeal.

Egyptian celebrity Zeina was fined Dh10,000 at Dubai Criminal Court in May for her part in an altercation also involving her sister and an Arab-American husband and wife at Atlantis, The Palm.

All parties were convicted of assault and issuing insults during the incident on June 29 of last year.

The fracas took place after Zeina accused the couple's 12-year-old daughter of taking photos of her without permission, the court heard.

The celebrity and her sister attacked and screamed at the family using “very strong language”, court records stated.

Police were called and all involved were taken to Al Barsha police station.

Dubai Court of Appeal reduced the fines handed out to Zeina, her sister and the couple, to Dh5,000.
