Dubai teen assaulted in playground by schoolmates

A 20-year-old has been accused of sexually assaulting a schoolboy while his friends filmed the attack.

DUBAI // A 14-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in the playground by two of his schoolmates and their friends, a court heard yesterday.

The victim, from Jordan, said he knew his four attackers - one of whom was 20 - because they played football together before.

He said one of them invited him to play again after school on April 11 this year. His mother said he could go if he took his younger brother with him.

When they arrived one of the group pushed the siblings into a car, slapped the elder boy, threatened him with a knife and demanded he have sex with them.

"[One of them] told me if I refused then they would rape my younger brother," said the boy.

The four attackers then took him to the bathroom of the playground and sexually assaulted him, taking turns to film the attack on a mobile phone.

A few days later a maths teacher at the boy's school found the footage and informed the boy's mother, who called police.

"I didn't tell her because I was afraid they would harm my younger brother," said the boy.

He said the mother of one of his friends tried to bribe him not to give her son's name to police.

KS, a 20-year-old Emirati, denied sexual assault at the Criminal Court yesterday. The other three defendants have been referred to the Juvenile Court. The Criminal Court's next hearing was scheduled for December 21.
