DUBAI // There were 92 motorists who had their driving licences taken away last month for causing accidents.
Salah Bu Farousha, the head of Traffic Prosecution, said that of the 92 drivers, four had caused fatal crashes and had their licences suspended for between three and six months.
He said that 76 were under the influence of alcohol at the time of their crashes. Of these, 75 lost their licences for three months and one for six months.

The figures compare favourably with the same period last year, when 100 drivers had their licences suspended after causing serious crashes.
Only one of these drivers caused a fatal crash and that licence was suspended for six months.
Of the 68 drivers found under the influence of alcohol at the time of their crashes, 63 had their licences suspended.
In the same period, three drivers were found under the influence of drugs after crashing and lost their licences for three months.
"There are directions from the attorney general to continue seeking licence suspension for those who are involved in serious traffic accidents," said Mr Bu Farousha.
