A Dubai physiotherapist convicted of assaulting a patient in his care has been spared jail – but will be deported from the UAE.

The health worker kissed the woman without her consent and touched her chest during a treatment session in May of this year.

The 38-year-old Pakistani was initially sentenced to three months in prison to be followed by deportation.

But the jail term was suspended after he challenged the severity of his punishment at Dubai Court of Appeal.

The woman, 45, told prosecutors she had been receiving treatment from the man for a week before the incident happened at the clinic in Bur Dubai.

“I felt his face close to mine. He snuck his hand under my shirt while massaging my shoulder then kissed me and groped my chest,” she said.

The woman left the clinic in shock then later the same day texted him about his behaviour.

“He told me he couldn’t resist me and that he liked me,” she said.

She reported the incident to police and provided them with a text message from the accused, which read: “It just happened when you were there, you are beautiful and I like you, I don’t know what happened to me.”
