ABU DHABI // A judicial department car valet sentenced to four years in jail for consuming hashish has been cleared by the Appeals Court.
KS, from Egypt, claimed he smoked the drug unknowingly when puffing on his friend's medwakh pipe.
In a previous hearing three lawyers volunteered to defend the car valet for free.
They argued that his friend had already testified that the valet did not know the pipe contained the drug, that results of a drug test were too vague and that the valet had a record of good behaviour.
