DUBAI // A man who tried to kiss a prostitute paid by his friend with a stolen credit card was today charged in court with sexual harassment.

The Criminal Court heard that MN, a 27-year-old Public Relations officer from Egypt, grabbed the prostitute in the lobby of the Ibis Hotel in Al Muraqabat on August 26, shortly after she had provided "sexual services" to his friend, who she met at a night club.

"I had sexual intercourse for 15 minutes - with my consent - with my friend in Ibis Hotel," admitted the prostitute, 28-year-old Iranian SA. "But when I was in the lobby this man, whom I did not know, came up to me and tried to hug and kiss me several times. I screamed and pushed him away," she added.

The prostitute made the allegation after police investigated her for trying to use a stolen credit card at a shop in Deira City Centre. She said the friend of the Public Relations officer gave her the card in return for her services.

In court the Public Relations officer denied a charge of sexual harassment.

Court records did not make clear whether any charges had been brought regarding the stolen credit card or sex outside of marriage.

The next hearing is expected on November 28.
