A Dubai doctor reported to police by his wife over an alleged sex attack on their housemaid has been cleared in court because of a lack of evidence.
The domestic worker told the woman her husband had forced his way into her room and tried to undress her.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that the assault was alleged to have taken place on April 11 last year.
The Indian wife, 49, reported the alleged incident to police after the 40-year-old compatriot made the claims.
She also dismissed the maid from her job.
“She informed me when I returned home,” said the wife. “Even after I dismissed her, I could not stop thinking about the incident and visited a law firm to ask for legal advice.”
The doctor was arrested by police at his private clinic in Jumeirah and taken to Al Barsha Police Station for questioning.
He denied the charge when he appeared in court last April.
